One mistake I see too many young, Christian women make is they see a guy that needs fixing and "needs" them and they marry him to try to help him. They end up mothering their husband rather than submitting to him in a godly fashion. Both are miserable.
I always advise single women in 2 main ways:
- only date as long as a man is possible marriage material. The moment he is ruled out as a possible husband, stop dating even if you are enjoying your time together. Emotions might lead you to do something regret or to marry someone who will make you miserable.
- when looking for a husband, look for one to whom you would be willing to submit. God commands the wife to submit to her husband. You don't want to make submission any harder than it already is. Also, the kind of man one would be willing to submit to is the kind of man who is godly, protective, and a provider which are the traits you want in a husband.
