This one brought to mind what I've read about the wood-wide-web - I'm feeling the aliens in this story might communicate in that kind of way, with all the talk of chemical signals. Love the way you describe everyday human things as an alien might do, with no cultural reference points. Feels really otherworldly for such a short piece.
