I think Mastodon would have done better attracting Black twitter had it implemented quote tweets, and that alone is reason to have done it.

That said, one thing I'm grateful for is not having the spend the next four years seeing toots in the format of:

quote tweet: I'm sure [high ranking Republican, Fox News, Bari Weiss, etc] will be chiming in to criticize this any minute

tweet: [Trump did thing that Democrats were pilloried for doing]
