Social network is not road - it's not controlled by any government and is made to profit from data they mine from you and ads. As companies can be ethical as well as unethical, you can't really expect all companies in some segment to act ethically.

What you can do is regulate them somehow, but you will never see what's happening there internally.

And I consider a lot of stuff on socnets impossible to regulate at all (troll farms, disinfo, ..) that are seriously dangerous to society
