And a few more config options I can think of:
- link modifiers (when l-shift is active, r-shift is also active, so only have to consider lower 4 bits of modifiers)
- scancode re-mapping (eg swap l-ctrl and caps lock)
- internal repeat (generate extra key-up/down events while a single key is held down)
