This car was A OK until a recall (which was a software update) was performed a couple years after it was purchased, after which the check engine light started coming on with some frequency.
The car kept driving fine despite the warnings (well aside from transmission dying earlier this Fall).
The check engine light that came on six days after I got it out of the shop most recently?
Went off again this morning.
There's something very sketchy in the software I think. ;-/
A car without "smarts" doesn't seem to exist in the new automotive market, but I sincerely don't trust those smarts. Given how long I've been coding and the horrors I've seen, network connected cars in particular seem as if they're just waiting to become a case study in wormable road hazards.
