I don't think I'll ever understand the “I suffered, so I want EVERYONE else to suffer” perspective.
One of the reasons I code, is to (co-)create systems so that others never need to go through the same BS I had to endure.
It can be exasperating at times, to see people leave messes for me to clean up, because I guess they never learned how to clean things up for themselves? But typically once I fix something programmatically, others never even need to think about that kind of stuff.
But the whole like, "My college wasn't free, so I want others to also have to pay for a subpar education" mindset or whatever of individuals opposed to student debt relief or crippling medical debt opposed to healthcare and such. I just will never understand.
People not understanding code? Yeah, well obviously. Too few ever learn to program, let alone how to code well. I don't begrudge that too much. I wish I knew how to educate others to be grateful for the things we've benefited from technologically due to the good will and benevolence of some smart cookies, but I am an outlier in even caring about things like that and definitely not someone with a teaching credential.
