I was recently prompted to read this 2015 article about raising kids
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-secret-to-raising-smart-kids1/ again and it's given me a chance to reflect on how I was praised for being smart as a kid, but the only feedback I got around effort was disappointment in my lack of it.
It's only been concurrent with transitioning that I've learned to overcome fear of failure and find a kind of ambition based in the idea that maybe if I put more effort in, I'll (sometimes) get more results out.
