I'd say it's a kind of slow political-demograpic melting rather than an awakening, unfortunately.
The EU/USA/Canadian/Australian centre-right has used all kinds of desperate tactics, including working with fascists, to try to reverse their long-term decline. I think these polls are part of a picture that shows it's harder, if not impossible, to get 50.5% using these tactics any more. Although maybe in Germany the CDU/CSU will try that for one last time, after the next election.
