I'm pretty sure I'd have gone to fewer legal weddings if we were waiting for the whole country to get on board. A handful of states passed it by ballot initiative as early as 2012 and others would have by now, but maybe not if judges hadn't decided in 2003 that it was time.
Wonder which side transphobes were on back then. It's not a 1:1 correspondence, but frequently homophobes are also transphobes.
