So, based on what I've found out online, Google uses some form of machine learning to guess an IP address's physical location, unlike every other service. And this process getting locations horribly massively wrong seems to be a common problem.
My guess it that the number of US tourists with Android devices staying in Hveragerði might have had something to do with this utter bullshit.
