Interesting reading that obviously Gulf of Mexico is the internationally recognised name and it is also mentioned in centuries of treaties around borders, fishing rights, oil drilling rights and things like that. It cannot be unilaterally renamed by the US and the US must continue to legally refer to it as the Gulf of Mexico, for any dealings with the WTO, UN, anything having and legal weight in court.
An embarrassment.
