Interesting, I was thinking about some of this today and I'd say this is the number one reason why I've not allowed myself to embrace the use of these models.
The main question for me at this point is: what is knowledge and what is it for? If we imagine a model which is 1000x better than the current ones, which literally knows everything with incredible detail and precision, then how do we deal with it? Not using it would be inefficient, why write a report or design a software system or plan a holiday using our brains only?
But as you point out, the less we use our brain and the less we're left with a brain to use in the first place. It's frankly confusing
