Fun fact: In the comic "Asterix and Obelix in Britain", the Britons stop halfway through their battle against the Romans to drink boiled water. Later on the plot Asterix fakes making the magic potion with some herbs from the far east, which the leader of the Britons declares it'll be their national beverage from then on.
That's how I still explain tea getting so popular in the UK.
