I added hotkeys to my (unreleased) PWA notes app I'm building, and the ESC key is my favorite one. It closes the note, and if you click it again, it clears the search filter. But since then, I've discovered it works on so many other things that I had never considered. For example, most native dialogue boxes, like when the browser asks you to share your location, will close if you click ESC. And when you click ⌘F to find something on a page, clicking ESC removes it. No more clicking Cancel or X!
