TIL that FreeBSD's reboot command supports killing processes and essentially switching root into a different directory, which could be used to setup at rest ZFS encryption that can be unlocked via ssh with a custom "ssh-only" base tarball. Basically the FreeBSD equivalent of Debian's dropbear-initramfs package or dracut-sshd for Fedora/CentOS/SLES.
Pretty neat.
