To be fair they are attributed to the very largest centipedes... which are delightfully massive.
Not even the biggest arthropod fans I know treat the giant centipedes with anything but most respectful caution. It's the one arthropod I think it's OK to give a little "eek" when you see one bolting out from under leaf litter like neon colored punk rock articulated bus on meth.
But if you look at them closely they are kinda cute. On video.
