In case you’re not following along, the State of California has spent over $11 billion since 2008 to build a high speed rail system from Los Angeles to San Francisco. This week they posted their first completion.

This feels like an Ayn Rand novel.
You can tell they aren’t serious about the work, because there isn’t any other construction going on. It’s just one segment all alone. Equipment is all cleaned up, worksite dismantled.
If you were planning to build 700 miles of track, would you bring in every separate trade group to build one segment start to finish, send everyone home, and then call them all back one at a time for the next segment? Of course not.
