I have a kids version of that book and it's brilliant. It cuts out all the bullshit (and there is a lot of that because Dumas was paid by the word IIRC).
I also read the regular version and my god, it was dull dull dull. I had to weed through 70% of the book before it got interesting and the blow-of missed the pep of the kids book.
