In these "interesting" times I think about my grandmother a lot. She was a remarkable woman. On the one hand she was a housewife, living in a steel town in PA, a black woman whose husband worked in the steel mill's hospital.

On the other hand she worked as a secretary for two Senators, she organized a trip to meet their sister church in Paris and in Lagos. She was an organizer and also had a pretty fun and exciting life.

So I think about how one can chart out a good life in a bad country.
