There is nothing like the Fediverse, not even I2P or other "owner-operated networks". This is currently the only place on the internet where nobody should give a fuck how you manage of not manage to pay your bills.
If you do not have a know-how, if you cannot bring your own best interest, if you cannot afford to maintain the node - its a you problem.
Those who donate anything to you should realize that if they spent the money on their OWN nodes - the Fediverse would be stronger, better.
