It's takes practice and patience. The first few phones I tried to fix i did not succeed. The reason was you need the right tools.
Using the heat gun is one of the correct tools. What you really need with is a heat gun holder that moves around. You literally need to go slowly and use both hands to gently lift the glass bit by bit. Takes a good 30 minutes to 40 minutes.
I got better at it over time that I don't break the glass now but China sells knock off screens so the phone is never the same. I would only repair the phone to get data off it.
