Seeing it many years later on Disney+, I noticed both how derivative it was, but also how strangely dark it was too. Also some of the effects are quite outstanding.
So I think I still rate it as interesting.
I actually haven't seen 'Forbidden Planet', so I'll take that as a recommendation.
