People were perfectly content to surrender privacy and liberty for the benefit of security after 9/11. Or even going back to internment camps in WWII. Theres a long history of *shrugging* off certain rights or freedoms that we could have if it makes us feel safe, especially for those who think "I have nothing to hide, why should I care if the govt does X (spy, imprison, etc) on a group with alleged mal-intent?"
