Well the compromise is to use the language's package manager (npm, pip, cargo, go get etc.), in a container if necessary. C is probably the only exception, although in the case of Flatpak that's also a dependency that would be defined that way after all.

`apt install node-lodash` is the path to insanity IMHO.
