In the face of Ottoman persecution, St. Theodosie of Brazi, a Romanian Orthodox monk, refused to renounce his faith. He was imprisoned and subjected to brutal tortures, yet remained steadfast. The Turks finally condemned him to death by being burned alive in a fire. His last words were a prayer, as he gave his soul to God. His relics are venerated today.
