Whenever I hear someone say something like "you can't change human nature", I remind myself that you also can't change H₂O's nature, and yet that substance can be in various forms of ice, various forms of water, steam, and plasma; it can settle into vast bodies or interleave throughout cells; it can form destructive storms or nourish life. What, exactly, is one trying to express when one refers to "human nature"?
