Towards the end of a pyramid scheme or similar scam you see the operators taking increasingly risky behaviors as it gets harder to generate the returns. While Marc Andreessen has shown reactionary tendencies for years, I think the right way to interpret a16z and cronies behavior is in through the lens of music possibly stopping on a 15 year old pump and dump scheme of mind boggling proportions.
