A common reaction to Democrats calling for Biden not to continue his run is along the lines of, "How can you dare say that to such a wonderful president and good human being?"
And this misses the point entirely. A person can have a wonderful career and be a genuinely superb human being, but reach a point where they simply are not on par to deal with the current situation, especially against an evil that is, at least on the surface, far more vigorous.
To say that a renowned race car driver who gave millions to charity has reached a point where he can no longer safely compete is not to denigrate him in any way.
