I think pollsters are hedging their bets by saying this race is closer than it is. I reckon Kamala will win this. Whether or not it'll be a smooth transition of power is perhaps another question.
Pollsters have proven to be wrong for a number of the past elections, so I think they're just leaning into it being close to save face.
