Rob Johnson (until recently director of MoD's office of net assessment & challenge) concludes that UK's armed forces;
'cannot defend the British homelands properly... Our defences are too thin & we are not prepared to fight & win an armed conflict of any scale'!
Given we are spending over 2.5% GDP on defence, the Q. must be if this is not enough can a country in the UK's position afford to pay more, or should we lower our military ambitions & focus only on national defence
