Very good on Sam Altman for this: "Musk, who has been fighting a legal battle against OpenAI in an attempt to stop the company from moving to a for-profit structure, made the surprise bid for OpenAI’s assets earlier this week. Musk argued in his bid that the nonprofit wouldn’t be properly valued during the conversion. But shortly after Musk made the bid, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told staff that the company’s board would reject it."
