#OTD 9 July 1766 Eric, 7 months old, died in Vårdinge Parish, Stockholm County, from whooping cough. Before a vaccine became available, whooping cough was a common childhood illness that could be fatal.

Eric was one of 14 children born to the Navy båtsman Johan Duhan and his three wives. At least nine of the children died in childhood, with two others being a mystery. Johan was my 5th-great-grandfather.
