Fatty ground beef (20%) is less expensive than lean (7%) AND it's better. Bulk ground beef is also less expensive per pound and it freezes well. Vacuum seal to block oxygen and moisture transfer and it'll last even longer in the freezer without freezer burn or the fats oxidizing. Keep a thermometer in the freezer to monitor temps; many enzymes are nearly completely inactive at -10°F and similarly around 0°F. Win. Win.
