I screwed up with a potential client today. Took too much on my plate, worked until late and the lack of rest had me send the old version of a proposal which came across as a total amateur. To top it off I communicated the prices which pissed off the intermediary as well as the client. Man do I hate disappointing people because I love people that excel at their job and hate the inverse (which was me in this case)
Not the end of the world but
this triggered this stream of thought and would love your perspective. (Don’t hold back please)
Feeling pride with success seems to be a trap. But in a way humility in times of failure seems the same where it paralyzes. It seems to both be the trap of falling into weakness.
What do you think?
Should you strive to have an inverse response where you focus on pride in times of failure and humility in times of success. Or is it “stay humble - all the time”?
Defining success and failure for me would be based on ‘trending’ rather that fixed datapoints.
To me it looks like you need to act courageously in times of (trending towards) failure break the trend. And humility in times of (trending towards) success to protect the trend.
