I wonder how often the drawn out process of peer review-revision-resubmission introduces errors in papers.

Currently revising a paper. Spotted what looked to be a mistake in a figure (assembled months ago). We start to fix the "mistake”. Then realised it was correct in first place (co-author has great record keeping). Reverted changes. Could easily have introduced an error into the paper.
