I wanted to be in control for Michael, his friend and martha but i was scared....
The water rose about 2 feet then started to recede some.... After the initial tidal surge, we got down and walked through water and mud to go out side.... The house was pretty much destroyed.... My truck was buried under water, logs, bark, furniture from other homes that were destroyed....
We dug out my truck and I prayed it would start.. It did.... we all got in and left but there was a wake of damage all over the village....
I grew up in scouting and know about flooding but I never knew how fast it comes, how tall it comes........ I thought the water would come and rise slowly or even fast but I never knew what a tidal surge was....
Thankfully we all go home safe.. I am heartbroken, I wanted more than anything to save my parents house... they saved my life many years ago.... They worked their whole life and finally paid off the house and should have been able to enjoy it...
