The DEC PDP-12 was introduced in 1970s has a LINC and PDP-8/i processor. The LINC (Laboratory INstrument Computer) handled I/O controlling relays, reading multi-turn knobs and jacks while also having special instructions to make use of the 12" point display. While the PDP-12 used TU-55 "dectape" drives, they were effectively LINC tape format and mounted oppositely.
