Not necessarily a dice roll. It’s the perceived predefined number of rounds a person sees in any situation that could lead to lack of cooperation. Game theory says if you have a capped quantity such as Cournot theory, without considering any adjustments or dynamics over time, then this incentives the choice to cheat in the last known round - end of decision tree. This is called the Centipede Game.
