This fall I picked up a bunch of oak seeds on my hikes and scattered them all through the junky areas of our property. I know there are better ways to start oak trees from acorns, but I ran out of time, and maybe a few of the seeds will escape the squirrels and germinate? I'd love to get a few oaks and maples started (or more birch) out in those areas that don't have quality trees. I planted one spruce seedling this spring and it didn't immediately die so I have some hope for that little guy.
