Something interesting about great/central mosques in Europe is that quite a few of them are connected to some form of heterodoxy and/or a variety of thought that doesnt sit well with the mainstream majority of muslims in that country. This also makes that many great/central mosques in Europe have relatively low number of worshippers and instead mainly function as hallmarks for when an ambassador from an Islamic country visits, when there is interfaith dialogue etc. (Though most of this is moreso because a lot of them are located in city centres or other areas with few immigrants and most Muslims might not necessarily know about the particular religious leaning of the mosque).
Though I'm not sure who heads the mosque now, I know for a while the great mosque of Rome was intimately tied to Pallavacini's (Italian Traditionalist) circle. Similarly, Valsan had a large influence on the central mosque of Paris, the London Central Mosque/ICC also had strong ties to Trad. school etc. Early mosques in Europe also were often set up by the Ahmadi community though their mosques tend to be a lot smaller.
In general Traditionalists have had a much larger influence on people in prestigious or influential positions than most people realise (everyone knows about king Charles by now but there are a lot more) though it is equally remarkable how little those individuals have managed to utilize their positions to enact change (which might in part be chalked up to most Traditionalists having a very quietist attitude towards all things political)
