I tried working with it through Sparrow, and tracking some of the developments around it.
If the only thing you're doing is a basic hold, it's slightly more expensive to send than standard SegWit due to the larger footprint. If you're doing more complex scripts, than taproot rapidly becomes king of both potential complexity and price. Miniscript also helps considerably, though it's still very technical.
Unfortunately, almost no wallet software supports the advanced features that makes taproot so useful, even now. Various lightning implementations are as good as it gets.
So, unless you're willing to try to figure out Miniscript for yourself, you're better off sticking with P2WSH for your wallets.
