Why wouldn't the founder be in involved? If he built the company and the company goes pubic then he should stay as the CEO because he understands the company best.
Unless of course he doesn't understand that when a company goes public the company should base it's decisions on maximizing profits and not actually being a decent and long term successful company.
Public companies are short term profit driven.
If he cares about the employees then he should get fired as caring about employees does not fit in with the corporate world.
