For all its many faults (FPTP for example) democracy in the UK feels a lot more on solid ground and healthier that its erstwhile colonies across the Atlantic. A quick and cordial transfer of leadership after an efficient overnight counting of votes. That should be table stakes for a 21st century democracy.
