When a person has a lack of identity, they are easier to control/manipulate. I believe it's by design. This idea of nationalism spreading through politics right now is similar - publicly offer an identity 'immigration', 'America first', 'close the boarders', 'tarrif this, tarrif that'. When really they're promoting a globalist agenda privately, removing the middle class. Social media is the easiest way to do it.
