However, I think it's undeniable that that's not the case for Mastodon as an ecosystem. Boosts make it more alive.

The truth is that a Boost is a Fav+ because it does everything a Fav does *and* it shares the post to everyone else. That's the behaviour that Mastodon should seek to encourage.
