Of course I love the musical chops and melodic and harmonic inventiveness that jazz brings to the table. Like, some of the playing in these standards is nothing short of miraculous, heavenly. I'm still just as much in awe now as I was then -- more, I think, because now that I've played and sat in with some bands over the years I see how difficult it can be to assess a new group or learn new things with an old group. I also love the musical friendships I've seen and made over the years.
