Once when I was abroad a really long time and almost home, transiting through a neighbor country, there was someone who had cash but U needed a card to buy a ticket. So I bought him a ticket and got cash and thought I helped a fellow traveler.
Turns out he had payed me with an old bill. SO it was useless. That bill had just been taken out of circulation.
