I’m annoyed by it because it makes it harder and harder not to use without a login to their service.

If you don’t care about that, it’s great, if you do. I run Infuse on the Apple TV on an SMB share and it is a vastly superior experience.

If you need other target devices YMMV. I only do video media on this, too.
