First I learned a lot during my PhD (not only about my topic, but about how to work and tackle greater tasks). Second, it simply enables you to do stuff (like ask for grants or project leads). At least in Germany, the title is super important for that. Third, sadly people take you more serious, although it is clear that the PhD expertise is only restricted to your topic and doesn't make you a better person in general! 🙂
